Music Educator

David Mitchell currently teaches percussion at Polk State College in Florida. Before that, he taught chamber percussion ensemble and world percussion at East Tennessee State University. Videos of ensembles are available below. He has a wide variety of students with ages ranging from elementary school through college.  Students of Mitchell have enjoyed the success of all-state positions, successful college auditions, and other state-recognized honors.

Mitchell has taught clinics in Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. Topics include, but are not limited to: percussion fundamentals, musical phrasing in percussion, teaching a successful front ensemble, transferring elements of concert percussion to world percussion, and movement in performance.
